Ian meets other childhood abuse survivors and even meets a male abuser who is going through therapy. His personal journey, including a trip back to the house in which he was abused, explains the anger he at times expressed on the pitch. His journey meeting therapists and a psychiatrist who support abuse survivors, aims to encourage others in his situation to seek help.

This episode focuses on the pivotal year, 1983, with Britain going through political upheaval during the miners' strike. It charts the rise of snooker's popularity at this turbulent time, showing how the sport mirrored societal changes and divides in Thatcher's Britain, while documenting the growth of promoter Barry Hearn's Matchroom empire.
